You will build 3D structural models of our project areas and turn structural geology into constraints our generative models can use. Most of the structure that controls mineralisation is under cover, so you will work from oriented core, mapping and geophysical inversions.
What your first year looks like
- Build 3D structural models from mapping, oriented core and geophysics.
- Interpret magnetics, gravity and seismic data for faults, contacts and folds, and test interpretations against drilling.
- Set the standard for structural data: orientations, kinematics, timing and measurement uncertainty.
- Work with the ML team to encode structural rules, such as fault relationships, stratigraphic order and fold style, as priors.
- Keep several plausible models per target, and identify the observation that would best separate them.
You have:
- An MSc or PhD in structural geology and 4+ years in mineral exploration, mining or applied research.
- Field mapping and kinematic analysis in deformed terranes.
- Experience logging and interpreting oriented core.
- 3D modelling in Leapfrog, GOCAD, GemPy, LoopStructural or similar.
Nice to have:
- Structural controls on porphyry, IOCG, VMS or orogenic gold deposits.
- Stochastic or ensemble geological modelling.
- Python.
